This event took place 9:30am - 4:00pm Saturday February 9th, 2019
UKLA and OU Reading for Pleasure Conference

International evidence indicates reading for pleasure offers significant benefits cognitively, socially and emotionally. This conference will help you develop your knowledge of children’s literature and create an authentic, flexible and interactive reading for pleasure pedagogy that supports young readers! The author MG Leonard will join us! Her debut, Beetle Boy (Spring 2016), has sold in thirty-seven territories, becoming a UK bestseller and winning the Branford Boase Award for best debut novel. Charlotte Hacking from CLPE will also be sharing insights from their current research and there will also be a bookshop. All workshops will be led by members of our OU/UKLA Teachers’ Reading Groups offering challenges and new ideas based on their work.
