What is the Event?
The annual International Conference is UKLA’s showcase of the year. Taking place in person, based at a new university each year, the event draws speakers from across the globe to share in research, expert practice and ideas regarding literacy. The Conference takes place over three days and is open to teachers, lecturers, students, librarians, literacy groups and associations; anyone who is involved in working in the field of literacy. It is an important opportunity to listen to voices from all walks of life with the same aim: to inform and partake in the development of language and communication, sharing in reflection and dialogue to support practice and give voice to key literacy issues.
When is the Event?
The International Conference takes place in late June/ early July of each year. In September of each year, there is a call for submissions, which stays open until the following January. Then, once the successful submitters have been informed, Early Bird Tickets go on sale in mid-January, with final registration closing at the end of May.
How do I submit?
Submissions for the International Conference take place via Oxford Abstracts. Once this is closed in January, successful submissions will be notified and must register as a presenter by the end of March.
