This award is presented to a member of the Association whose text (on paper or on screen) most effectively supports the teaching of literacy. It is awarded bi-annually, and will next be awarded at the International Conference in Chester July 15th-17th 20

 This award is presented to a member of the Association whose text (on paper or on screen) most effectively supports the teaching of literacy. It is awarded bi-annually, and will next be awarded at the 47th UKLA International Conference in Chester between 15th and 17th July 2011.Applications are now invited from individual members of UKLA who have published  a text between Feb 2009 and January 2011 about an aspect of the teaching of literacy for classroom teachers. The text should be relevant to classroom practice.The texts will be judged by a panel chaired by the Convenor of the UKLA Membership and Awards Committee. The award will be presented at the International Conference gala dinner on 16th July, 2011 in Chester. Criteria

  • text supports the teaching of literacy
  • can be for any/all key stages from EYFS to KS4
  • relevant to current classroom practice
  • reflects current developments in literacy research
  • encourages teachers to be reflective, innovative, creative
