My name is B, my pronouns are they/them, and I am a Year 3 teacher.
My background is classical music and I completed my PGCE in Primary education at the University of Manchester in 2019.
I joined the UKLA in my training days and have won the Student Shadower of the Year Award in 2019 for the work that I did with my Year 1 class. Since then, I have found and developed a passion for picture books and have always looked out for books that represent and celebrate our diverse communities and lived experiences. I have been a Regional Representative for the North West region since January 2021, and I now have the pleasure and the honour of coordinating the Regional Representatives team.
Being a member of the UKLA broadens and deepens my knowledge of children’s literature, provides me with constant support and challenge to my teaching practise and connects me with a wonderful community of like minded people who are passionate about improving literacy education.
If this resonates with you and you would like to know more about the work that we do at the UKLA, please get in touch.
