Gemma Gibson – East Midlands

  • Regional Rep

I am the Year 3 and 4 teacher and Literacy Coordinator at Sturton-Le-Steeple Primary School. I am also the Specialist Leader of Education for Literacy at the Trent Valley Teaching School Alliance and have more recently also enjoyed leading the Bassetlaw Teachers as Readers group. In October, I embark on the NPQSL journey where I aim to develop myself as an effective leader.

Throughout my career I have been keen to gain new and exciting challenges such as outreach support to share my passion and current knowledge for the teaching of literacy. I wish to build relationships with other professionals, acting as a two way learning progress and working together to make an impact on the teaching of literacy in our schools.

Becoming a member of the UKLA has benefited me greatly, the opportunity to meet literacy enthusiasts, the wealth of resources available and also the supportive community it has!

It is a privilege to be a regional representative for the UKLA and I am looking forward to researching and developing the teaching of literacy in my region.

I tweet as @MrsG_Gibson
