Hi! My name is Kat Vallely and I am a practitioner of primary education at the University of Greenwich. I have spent a number of years researching children’s early writing development, with a tight focus on the relationship between teachers as writers, and writers as teachers. Branching out further, my current literacy interests include multimodal forms of communication in Early Childhood Education. I am particularly interested in the overt focus that we, as teachers and researchers, place on children when it comes to talking, rather than recognising and responding to their alternative forms of communication within the classroom environment.
