What are the UKLA Research Grants?
Deadline for research grant applications for 2026 is midnight on the 1st November.
UKLA Research Committee (RC) considers applications for funding from UKLA members in the autumn term of each year. Grants of up to £3000 can be awarded and applications are open to anyone that is completing research within the realm of literacy. Please note that we do not fund projects that are designed to evaluate programmes that will be promoted for commercial gain.
We aim to work with you to promote informed decision making by literacy professionals, policymakers, and the public. Applications are particularly welcomed from teachers and other practitioners and from teacher/practitioner/academic partnerships.
We encourage all those that are thinking of applying to read the application guidelines below, as any proposal that does not adhere to the guidelines will not be considered for funding.
How Can I Apply?
Applications for UKLA Research Grants are open all year round but are reviewed only once a year, each November. To apply, please open and fill out the application form in the ‘Apply’ page below.
